About
“I believe that when people feel good, they do good.”
About the Doctor
Hi, my name is Dr. Priscilla Tang. I’m a naturopathic doctor, self created health warrior, caring daughter and sister, and your energy and productivity expert.
I spent my childhood watching my unwell mother run through the conventional care system, as just another number and treated as a collection of symptoms instead of a person. She was constantly in pain, lost an incredible amount of weight, and needed to be constantly tended to.
I knew from a young age that I wanted to become a doctor to decrease the amount of suffering in the world. It was only when a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner and Chinese herbalist was introduced to my mom’s care that I saw life return back to her eyes. This was one of the pivotal things that expanded my awareness of the medical world, and drew me towards alternative care. Naturopathic medicine was the perfect combination of a whole body approach using traditional wisdom combined with science and modern research.
“Patients deserve to be in the driver seat of their health – I am here as your professional guide to sift through the noise and deliver individualized care to your body and your needs.”
Things I love:
- Using movement as medicine (my tonic of choice is dance!)
- Hip hop and R&B music
- Making lists and crossing things off
Things that are important to me:
- Environmental sustainability
- Connection (even though I am introverted)
- Making sure my patients feel heard
Things I hope to achieve:
- Learn sign language
- Experience graceful aging
- Inspire a collective of health warriors to be unapologetic of taking control of their health
Approach to Medicine
“Transformative care can only be achieved if we lay a strong foundation through a multi-system, wholistic approach.”
I believe that patient outcomes come first, and success comes from 1) empowering the patient to take control of their health, as well as 2) properly navigating interprofessional care with all members involved in the patient’s health. I believe in an “east meets west” approach to medicine, and work to combine the best of both worlds in your treatment, using modern labs and physical exams with traditional knowledge and healing. I love working with caregivers (moms, clinicians, nurses, teachers, etc) and ambitious leaders (CEOs, young working professionals building their career, business owners, etc) to reach their potential. My focuses includes sleep and energy optimization, brain and mental health, hormonal health (including acne and painful/irregular periods), and digestion.
Education and Training
I am a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) in North York, where I completed a 4 year Doctor of Naturopathy program. During my 12 month internship, I worked as an intern on the Robert Shad Naturopathic Clinic Sports Medicine specialty shift, within the Brampton Civic hospital, and at the Sherbourne Health Centre in Toronto.
Prior to attending CCNM, I completed a 4 year Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences from McMaster University in Hamilton. During my time at McMaster, my own fitness journey led me to become certified as a fitness instructor. This was the beginning of my enthusiasm on being part of an industry built on inspiring others.
